Parkinson's Treadmil and Strength Class

Mon, Thu Month of July 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Session II: This exercise class is geared towards individuals with Parkinson Disease (PD) and is led by a physical therapist and personal trainer. The hour-long class is split into two half-hour sessions. 30 minutes are spent walking on a treadmill (sometimes backwards) and 30 minutes working on strength and flexibility with a focus on trunk mobility. The theory behind this program is that improved trunk mobility combined with an aerobic conditioning program should lead to improvement of functional activities used in everyday life. Clients in all stages of the disease are welcome, as well as new participants. Trainers: Kerrie Meskin and Faye Korobkin. Location: Fitness Floor and Personal Training Studio.

The classes are tailored to meet the needs of the group with exercise progression as the session continues. The Reformer is a spring based machine which develops strong core and back muscles while focusing on a long, lean body. The Tower's springs , bars and loops add many variations to the Pilates system of exercise. Please note that rehabilitative issues are difficult to address in a group format and may be better treated in a private session. $40 drop in fee when available. Instructor: Kathy Loveless. Location: Teva Pilates Studio.

We build inner and outer strength, flexibility and balance through traditional yoga postures. Yoga is an excellent compliment to any physical activity and helps to prevent sports related injuries. Through breathwork, mindfulness, stress reduction, compassion and self-awareness is taught. Tween/Teen yoga is taught in a safe, noncompetitive, peer supported, nurturing environment.
