Back to the Sources: The Second Aliyah Session II

Thu 9:30 AM - 11:15 AM
The huge wave of immigration to Palestine between 1904 - 1914 is known as "The Second Aliyah." This was an expressly Zionist immigration as opposed to the previous wave of immigration, "The First Aliyah" (1882-1903). This was an expressly Zionist immigration. The immigrants, many of whom fled anti-Semitism and economic hardship in Eastern Europe, came to build a Jewish Homeland. They built the land, founded the Kibbutz Movement, created the first Jewish Defense organizations which later became the Haganah and the Israeli Army, revived the Hebrew language, and were at the forefront of the movement to create a Jewish State.
