Howard is an ACE – certified personal trainer. Howard also has certifications as a YMCA physical fitness specialist and physical fitness specialist-advanced. He has also served as our JCC’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase Four program director and Health Recreation and Fitness Director. He has served as a CPR instructor through the American Heart Association and Stop Smoking Instructor through the Wisconsin Lung Association.
He has run in 10 marathons, and many other runs. His favorite was the Cudahy 10 miler (although Frank Shorter and Bill Rodgers finished while he was approaching the half way point). He has been a member of the Badgerland Striders and served as a race director and volunteer for many runs. In recent years, Howard has substituted running with stationary cycling to rest tired knees and feet. He also has personal experience with the challenge of weight loss and maintenance.
Howard has a BBA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has also been active in resident camping, serving as Camp Interlaken JCC’s director from 1999-2007 and an accreditation visitor for the Wisconsin Section of the American Camp Association.
Howard lives in Glendale with his wife Diane. Their two children, Ian and Jonah are students at the University Of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
