The Pilates Method
The Pilates (pronounced p-la-teez) Method was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. As a sickly child, Pilates developed a system that included elements of both eastern and western forms of movement including yoga, zen and ancient Grecian and Roman regimens. By the age of 14, Pilates was in such strong physical shape, he was able to pose for anatomical charts.
