Speed It Up

Do you have children that participate in athletics? Then consider enrolling them in Speed it Up! The goal, focus, and directions are to enhance each individual's speed, quickness, agility, and body control relative to sport. Linear speed is important, but the ability to change direction is quite possibly more important than flat out speed. Working the fundamentals and mechanics of speed will allow you to preform at a higher level as well as avoiding injury. This class will work the mechanics of running and jumping in addition to landing and stopping. You want to train the muscles to remember the fundamentals so when chasing down a ball all concentration can be focused on the target, not how to get their quickly. Even if your child is not currently in a sport they can still learn to control their body like an athlete.

The classes are split into age groups. The purpose of these age groups is to focus on what developmentally is best for those participants. The younger groups will have their drills focused around play, improving on reaction time to the flip of a coin or through sound and sight. The older groups will get that same reaction training through reading an opponents body language in game like situations. The middle group will have a combination of the two, depending on the level of the participants. Each of the age groups will take into consideration the sports of the participants and work towards the common needs of each. 

This class will work on:

      • vertical 
      • agility
      • acceleration
      • coordination
      • balance
