WHY Wednesdays - An Ozone Filtered Pool?

WHY an Ozone Filtered Pool?

To give our members and users a different kind of pool experience.

Did you ever notice that after using the JCC indoor pools at the Peck Aquatic Center, you feel a little different than after swimming in other pools?  Your eyes are not burning, you do not have that tired, groggy feeling, and your swimsuit doesn’t smell like chlorine?  That is because instead of using high levels of chlorine in our indoor Peck Aquatic Center, we use an ozone filtration system.

An ozone filtration system is an environmentally friendly alternative to chlorine. In fact, ozone does almost everything chlorine does - and everything it does do, it does better than chlorine! Ozone is a natural purifier created in nature by the combination of oxygen in air and the ultraviolet rays of the sun, or by the corona discharge during a lightning storm. Ozone is the clean, fresh scent noticed after a rainstorm. As a natural sanitizer, ozone destroys bacteria, viruses, mold, and mildew. When using ozone technology the level of chlorine kept in the pool is minimal (there is still a low level of chlorine used). The ozone eats up the bad chlorine that falls in the pool, which is why your eyes won’t burn after swimming and you cannot smell the ozone when you first arrive.

We pride ourselves on ensuring the best possible swimming environment for our members and guests, which is why we chose to use an ozone filtration system for our indoor pool.  Whether for private or group lessons, swim club, or recreational laps and family time – swimming at the JCC is designed to be the safest, healthiest, and most rewarding experience.
