Upstream Arts at the JCC

February 13, 2014

By Julie Guidry – Upstream Arts Executive Director and Teaching Artist

Upstream Arts is thrilled to be returning to Milwaukee to facilitate another week of classes in partnership with the JCC's STARS program February 16th – 20th.

Upstream Arts' mission is to enhance the lives of adults and youth with disabilities by fostering creative communication and social independence through the power of arts education.

Using the arts including theater, poetry, music, and visual arts, we will explore creative and positive ways of self-expression. Upstream Arts integrates individuals with cognitive, developmental, emotional, behavioral, and physical disabilities into arts programming designed to develop social and communication skills vital to success in school, work and life. We believe that artistic experiences nurture growth, leading to individuals who are better able to live, work and make positive contributions to our society.

Upstream Arts is the only arts organization in Minneapolis/ St Paul, MN, and one of only a handful nationally, that is focused specifically on developing social and communication skills through curriculum-based arts programming for people with disabilities at every stage of life.

Act. Write. Dance. Paint. Sing. Imagine. Experience. Create. Communicate. Socialize. Learn... and have fun with Upstream Arts!
