Camp’s Fairytale Wedding
In the summer of 2004, Jordan Davidoff and Goldie Miller met for the first time in the Chadar Ochel (dining hall) at the Steve & Shari Sadek Family Camp Interlaken JCC. Both long time campers, Jordan and Goldie attended different sessions throughout their camper years, but finally met when they were both cabin counselors in the summer of 2004. According to Jordan, “it was love at first sight in the Chadar, and we were a couple by the first Shabbat of the summer.”
This past June, 10 summers after they first met, the couple returned to Camp Interlaken JCC to exchange their wedding vows. They wanted to share this special and beautiful place with family and friends, many who grew up right a camp with them, and also those who heard them talk about camp so much over the years, and were never lucky enough to experience it. Jonah Wagan, Assistant Director and long-time friend of the couple, was blessed to be at their wedding. “Seeing the smiles, tears of joy and expression and sharing camp stories with the alumni over dinner, dancing and an impromptu campfire with guitars truly made it an unforgettable experience.”
Camp Interlaken JCC is located on 106 magnificent acres near Eagle River, WI in the breathtaking north woods of Wisconsin. Interlaken offers a complete residential camping experience for Jewish children and becomes a camper’s home away from home.
Camp truly was Jordan and Goldie’s home away from home. Jordan grew up in Texas and Goldie in California, but they built a family at camp over their collective 21 years at camp. Camp was the constant in their lives through most of their formative years. Goldie even had her Bat Mitzvah at camp on the same Bimah (stage) where they had the ceremony.
As Goldie and Jordan continue to build their family, they will always have that strong bond that comes with sharing such close relationships and Jewish identity stemming from their experiences at Camp Interlaken JCC.
