The JCC Triggerfish Swim Team is a competitive and fun swim team where swimmers are introduced to the concept of a swim team, team building, good sportsmanship, and how to use swimming as a form of exercise.
Program Benefits
Triggerfish is the perfect first swim team experience for kids 6-14 years old who have successfully completed American Red Cross Youth Level 3. Coaches teach the basics of competitive swimming and help swimmers get comfortable with the rules and expectations. Many Triggerfish alumni have come to love the experience and found ongoing success on more competitive club and school teams as they grow.
In the marine world, the triggerfish is known to exhibit a level of intelligence that is unusual among fishes, and has the ability to learn from previous experiences. So, too, do our Triggerfish learn from each new experience in the pool.
Swimmers focus on proper warm-up and refinement of strokes through drills and direct instruction. All swimmers will review the basic components of the four competitive swimming strokes, starts, turns, and training tactics.
The primary goal of practices is to make swim team fun while building skills and making friends.
Triggerfish practices are held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:00-6:00 PM in the JCC Peck Aquatic Center in Whitefish Bay or the Hy & Richard Smith JCC Water Park (summers only).
