It is a comprehensive Olympic-style sports competition with an opening and closing ceremonies, community service projects, HangTime programming with Israeli shlichim, social and cultural events, and home hospitality with local families.

Teens can choose to compete in baseball, basketball, dance, ice hockey, girls volleyball, golf, soccer, tennis, swimming, track and field, or be a “star reporter” (options subject to change).

Program Benefits

With over 3,000 teens competing each summer, the JCC Maccabi Games is one of the largest organized sports programs for Jewish teens in the world.

Although the central activities are sports and athletic endeavors, the broader context of the Games embraces Jewish expressions of pride, peoplehood, identity, and values. JCC Maccabi medals are awarded not only for sporting achievements but also for expressions of six core midot (values) that underpin all aspects of the JCC Maccabi experience: Repairing the World, Respect, Joy, Pride, Big-Heartedness, and Jewish peoplehood.

Our delegation has a proud tradition of competing, and most recently hosted the JCC Maccabi Games in 2015.

Over the years, our athletes have competed in a wide variety of sports like swimming, basketball, ice hockey, tennis, and more.

Team Wisconsin is open to Jewish teens across the State and is especially meaningful for teens from smaller Jewish communities. Most of our athletes compete in individual sports or on combined teams with athletes from other States, so there is not a need to travel for team practices prior to the Games.

The JCC Maccabi Games has a housing model consisting of athletes staying with local host families. Many past participants have said that the host families are one of their favorite parts of the experience. Host families are background checked, screened, and required to attend a mandatory orientation.

We are very grateful to these host families as they serve as interim parents for the week transporting the teens to and from JCC Maccabi, provide breakfast, laundry, and give your teen an unforgettable home hospitality experience. Many teens will stay in touch with host families for years to come!
