The click of the tiles mixed with the voices of players calling – 6 bam, 5 crack, flower – fills the air. It must be time for Mah Jongg!

Program Benefits
Mah Jongg (or Maj, as it is often called) is a rummy-like game played with tiles rather than cards.
Maj was developed in China in the 19th Century, but the version we play at the JCC is the American adaptation which uses a card of Standard Hands. Each year, the National Mah Jongg League puts out a new card with fresh hands to play.
The people who come to play at the J have varying years of experience, and there are also opportunities for new players to learn.
Bring your foursome to play at the J, or come on your own, and we will match you up with other players. Playing at the J is not only about the game, but about the friendships made. Let us provide the light snacks and beverages while you spend time with friends old and new.
Before the game begins, grab lunch at Hannah’s Kitchen CAFA B DATA with a 10% discount. Wave hello to early childhood classrooms as they make their way down the hallway. Playing at a community center puts you at the center of our diverse and inclusive community.
