Art Sale

In Israel, the arrival of spring is marked by the blooming of the kalaniot – a vibrant red, poppy-like flower that symbolizes the nation’s spirit. This year, however, spring carried a somber tone as hostages remain separated from their loved ones and Israel continues to face conflict.
In collaboration with the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, the JCC invited local artists to participate in an exhibit symbolizing hope and love in memory of fallen Israeli soldiers. Artists were asked to select a soldier and create their interpretation of a kalaniot inspired by their soldier’s biography. Over 20 artists contributed stunning pieces for this exhibit.
These works have now been generously donated for sale, each priced at $118 and available on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds will benefit the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s Israel Emergency Fund.

While some pieces have been claimed, many are still available. If you’d like to see the pieces in person, the exhibit will be on display in the Surlow Promenade (located off the Marcus Pavilion/West entrance of the JCC) through the High Holy Days. Purchased art can be collected in October.
