Gan Ami: Early Childhood Education
Welcome to the Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC Early Childhood Programs
Come and learn more about us. Hear laughter on our playgrounds and running feet in our gym. Touch sculptures made of clay, wood, beads, and leaves. Smell paint on huge canvases created by tiny hands. Taste warm challah for Shabbat on Friday mornings. See the smiles on children’s and teachers’ faces.
We believe we offer the best early childhood program in Southeastern Wisconsin and we are excited to share it with you. We believe that a quality school is achieved through quality faculty members and thus, many of our teachers have degrees in early childhood education and related fields; many have spent years at the JCC teaching young children. Most simply, they love children and are committed to engaging and guiding each child’s natural curiosity about the world around them.
Our classrooms are places of learning and exploration, rooted in Jewish values, where every child is a gift. They are aesthetically beautiful places, filled with organic materials that elicit a curiosity about the natural world and provide a warm home-like environment for learning. Our Jewish setting, celebrations, and activities promote Jewish values and encourage children to learn about Judaism. Shabbat is celebrated every Friday with songs, stories, and fresh challah.
We believe children are truly powerful and capable of constructing their own learning as they negotiate the world around them. At our school, children’s inherent inquisitiveness is encouraged and nurtured, allowing their interests to emerge into learning opportunities. Research has shown that for children to fully understand and remember what they have learned, it must be meaningful to them in the context of their own experience and development. This educational approach is inspired by the theories and practices of the early childhood schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy.
The Harry and Rose Samson Family JCC Gan Ami Early Childhood Education programs are fully licensed by the state of Wisconsin and meet strict guidelines for safety, cleanliness, faculty-to-child ratios, and faculty qualifications. We follow guidelines endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information about our programs. We look forward to having your family join our school!
