CAFĀ B DATA Returns to Main Street

It’s 12:00 PM on a weekday, and the smell of chicken shawarma and fries is wafting through the community spaces of the JCC. Hannah’s Kitchen CAFĀ B DATA is now serving lunch, creating a lively atmosphere on Main Street. As you walk down the hallway, you’ll find parents enjoying lunch playdates while children explore the Guten Family Discovery Center. High-top tables are the spot for casual lunch meetings over fries, and retired adults gather with friends for a bite before their weekly Mah Jongg or Men’s Club programs. After three years without food service at the JCC, this scene is not taken for granted.

In January 2023, the JCC’s in-house café, CAFĀ B DATA, reopened through a collaborative effort involving Hannah Sattler from Hannah’s Kitchen, the Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC, and the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. Operating under the supervision of Kosher Supervisors of Wisconsin, Hannah’s Kitchen CAFĀ B DATA is a kosher meat café offering a variety of options such as deli sandwiches, soups, salads, and an extensive grill menu featuring burgers, fries, falafel, shawarma, and more.

By partnering with Hannah’s Kitchen, the leadership of the JCC and the Milwaukee Jewish Federation reaffirmed their commitment to making kosher food accessible to our community. “This partnership with Hannah’s Kitchen allows us to ensure that our community can gather over food in an inclusive manner,” said Mark Shapiro, JCC President and Chief Executive Officer.

Before reopening the café space, Hannah’s Kitchen operated out of the kosher kitchen on the Karl Campus, providing catering services, curbside meal pickup, and holding food offerings for online customers. Owner and operator Hannah Sattler has enjoyed the opportunity to engage directly with her customers face-to-face. “Seeing the community visiting, laughing, and enjoying playing together again is amazing!” said Hannah. “Hannah’s Kitchen has grown tremendously over the last three years, expanding how we serve the community as well as the number of people we have the joy to work with each day.”

In addition to CAFĀ B DATA in Whitefish Bay, Hannah’s Kitchen manages the kosher dairy Snack Shack at the Hy & Richard Smith JCC Water Park in Mequon and operates an optional hot lunch program for Gan Ami Early Childhood Education. Hannah’s Kitchen also continues to offer catering services, takeout menus, and the beloved challah rolls enjoy by JCC Heath Center members every Friday. The next time you visit the JCC, be sure to stop for a bite to eat (we recommend the shawarma fries!).
