Pantry Return to Indoor Food Distribution
Return to Indoor Food Distribution at the Jewish Community Food Pantry
September 15
The Covid-19 pandemic required flexibility and innovation to meet the unprecedented need of our community. While drive-thru distribution allowed us to provide consistent access to emergency food for the past 2 ½ years, our clients have lost the ability to make choices in the food they bring into their homes. With vaccines now readily available for everyone over 6 months old, we are excited to announce that beginning September 15 we will transition back to our pre-pandemic food allocation process.
Please review these reminders and updates:
- The Jewish Community Pantry is an emergency food pantry serving Milwaukee zip codes 53210 and 53216 only. If you live outside of these zip codes, please call 211 to find a food pantry near you.
- Clients may receive emergency food from the Jewish Community Pantry no more than once per month.
- Recertification will begin on September 15. To be recertified for the year, you will need an ID for each member of the family, including children, and proof of your current residence. To identify children, we will accept birth certificates, social security cards, or insurance cards.
- Masks are required inside the pantry for all staff, volunteers, and clients over the age of 3.
- All pantry clients will need to park their vehicle and come inside the facility to receive food.
- If you are unable to get out of your vehicle, you may send a proxy in your place with your ID (or a copy of your ID) to receive food on your behalf.
