August 2024: Sara Reuben

What department(s) do you volunteer in?
“I currently volunteer with our PJ Library Committee. Specifically, I work on the endowment sub-committee to continue raising funds for the future of this incredible program.”

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with the JCC?
“My mom, Susan Stuckert, is also a part of the PJ Library Committee, and I enjoy being able to work with her. It’s also great to work with so many other wonderful people from the Milwaukee Jewish Community to support such a great organization that gives so much to our children and families!

What are your hobbies or some of your favorite thins to do outside of volunteering with the JCC?
“I love to spend time with my two sons, who are 3 and 5 years old. We love to spend time Up North with my parents and extended family. I also love to read, shop, eat, and travel! Outside of the J, I’m involved in the Social Justice Committee through my synagogue (Congregation Sinai), where I’m helping to lead efforts around Voter Engagement.”

What inspired you to volunteer for the JCC?
“My mom told me it would be good for me to be more involved in giving back to the Jewish community. Nothing like Jewish-mom guilt!”

Can you share a memorable experience you’ve had volunteering with the JCC?
“Lighting the Shabbat candles with my mom, kids, and husband at the PJ Library Shabbat Dinner in January 2024. I was so impressed by this incredible event – the shuk (market) that was set up for the kids was really well done! It was so well attended and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces.”
